The place of origin of this vine is the plain of Gries, nearby Bozen, where the Benedictines of the Muri convent used to cultivate it since a long time. It was brought in Trentino in the collections of the Agricultural college of San Michele all’Adige and then was widespread in the Piana Rotaliana, on the hills of Trento and in Vallagarina.
